Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your information.

Effective date: 11 September 2026 · Last updated: 11 September 2026

HariKshama Foundation ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who visits our website and supports our work. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it. It is intended to align with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and other applicable law.

01 Who we are

HariKshama Foundation is a charitable organisation registered in India. Our registered office is in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. For any privacy question you can contact us at harikshamafoundation@gmail.com.

02 Information we collect

We only collect information that is necessary to operate our work and process your support. This may include:

  • Identity and contact details: your name, email address, phone number, and postal address when you donate, subscribe, volunteer, or contact us.
  • Donation details: the amount you give and the date, along with a transaction reference. We never see or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN, or bank credentials; your payment is completed entirely within your own UPI app.
  • Tax details: your PAN, collected only if you choose to request an 80G tax-exemption receipt. If you do not request an 80G receipt, we do not ask for your PAN.
  • Technical data: basic, non-identifying information such as browser type and pages visited, used only to keep the site working and secure.

03 How we use your information

We use your information only for legitimate, stated purposes:

  • To process your donation and issue a receipt.
  • To issue 80G tax-exemption certificates where applicable.
  • To send you confirmations and, only if you have given explicit opt-in consent that is never pre-selected on our forms, updates about our work.
  • To respond to your enquiries and provide support.
  • To meet our legal, accounting, and audit obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, ever.

04 Payment processing

Donations are made by UPI. When you scan our UPI QR code, the payment is completed entirely inside your own UPI app (such as GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, or BHIM); your UPI ID, bank details, and UPI PIN are never seen, entered, stored, or processed on our website. Your payment is handled by your UPI app and your bank under their own terms and privacy policies.

If you choose to request an 80G receipt, you provide your PAN together with your donation. We use your PAN solely to issue your tax-exemption receipt and to meet our statutory reporting obligations. It is stored securely and retained only for the period required by Indian tax law. We never use your PAN for any other purpose, and we never share it except where the law requires.

05 How we store and protect your data

  • Financial and tax records (such as donation details and 80G information) are kept for the statutory period required by Indian tax law.
  • Other personal data (such as an email address held for updates) is kept only while it is needed. If you withdraw consent or ask us to erase your data, we will delete it from our active databases within 30 days, except where a specific law requires us to keep it.
  • We apply reasonable security measures, including HTTPS encryption across our website, to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.
  • Access to personal data within our organisation is limited to those who need it to do their work.

06 Sharing your information

We share personal data only where necessary:

  • With service providers (such as email or accounting tools) who act on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
  • With regulators, auditors, or authorities where required by law.

07 Your rights

Under the DPDP Act and applicable law, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data, request erasure (subject to legal retention requirements), and withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at harikshamafoundation@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable period.

08 Cookies

Our website may use minimal cookies necessary for it to function and to keep it secure. We do not use cookies for advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

09 Children’s privacy

Our donation services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate consent from a parent or guardian.

10 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
